Brett has been a “fixture” at K&J Woodworks having started with the company right out of high school over twenty years ago when K&J had only four employees. Brett began this journey when he was hired on for a weekend project with no guarantee of future work. When Brett started they said he didn’t know sheet-rock from plywood. Through perseverance, dedication to learning and the mentoring from the leadership at K&J, Brett grew professionally as K&J grew as a company. This gives him the advantage of knowing exactly what it takes to process a project start to finish. Today, Brett is the owner of K&J and there are now over seventy-five employees. K&J has been more than just a teaching ground for Brett, but also an extended family and Brett appreciates those that are as dedicated as he is to seeing K&J succeed. Even with the demands of his career, Brett makes time for his family every day whether attending his children’s events, enjoying the blessing of his granddaughter, hunting, and trying to never miss a University of Texas football game. Leslie Burich

Owner/Vice President

Leslie has been a part of the K&J organization for the past nineteen years. She has experienced the growth and success of K&J alongside her husband, Brett Burich, Owner/President. Leslie has a creative side with a Visual Communications degree from The Art Institute of Houston. She co-created the K&J website focusing on the design, layout and images. Most of the photography on the K&J website was shot by Leslie. She appreciates the opportunity to be part of the K&J family. In her spare time, she enjoys activities with family and friends, being outdoors and photography.

Joe Howe

CFO/CTO

Joe began as a contractor with K&J in 2009. Joe enjoyed the small business spirit at K&J so he accepted a full time position with the company. He brings with him over twenty years of Information Technology and Business Management experience from small businesses to large government institutions. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Business Administration. When not at K&J, Joe is building, fixing, volunteering, and enjoying the outdoors with his wife and children.

Jordan Schuenemann

Project Management Director

Jordan Schuenemann serves as Director of Project Management for K & J Woodworks; his employment beginning in 1999 after graduating high school. His twenty years of experience and AutoCAD certification have allowed him to travel globally, working with leaders in the store fixture industry including Modernspace in China, a consultant for Whole Foods, and operations in Mexico, relentlessly striving for design and manufacturing excellence and pursuing his passion for world travel. Jordan resides in Austin, Texas and when he’s not spending time with his K & J family, he likes to spend quiet evenings at home with his wife and their dog, playing computer games and trying to learn Mandarin Chinese. The couple share a passion for world travel, but Jordan’s home is Texas, so when he’s not jet-lagged, he loves camping with his family, appreciating the familiar landscape, talking politics, God and the zombie apocalypse. Jordan is a poor loser and often cheats at Monopoly or Risk, which is an indication of his maturity.

Angel Munoz

Operations Director

Angel has been around construction since he was a young boy helping his dad build cabinets.  He says he didn’t like the sanding and staining, but enjoyed the construction side and this led to building wood projects himself.  His experience and opportunity led him to K&J in 2004.  Angel worked in the Assembly Department for several years.  He quickly proved his desire to learn more and spent the next few years working in different departments of K&J.  He began to develop a broader understanding of how the manufacturing side of K&J functioned while he picked up other skills in shipping, machining and installation.  Angel even worked in the Engineering Department and became proficient in AutoCAD.  In 2011, Angel led the installation team and worked in the field alongside them for six years.  In 2017, he was officially made the Installation Manager with a more permanent desk in the office where he has been invaluable to not only his install team, but also to those in the office and the manufacturing departments.  This move proved to be another step in the right direction because in 2018 Angel was named K&J’s Operations Director.  Angel has a big future with K&J due to his drive to learn more, ambition to grow, and ability to develop others alongside him.  In his personal time, Angel enjoys time with family at the river, park, hiking, movies, camping, and he loves to dove hunt.

Garrett Smith

Senior Estimator

Garrett began with K&J as an intern during his senior year at Sam Houston State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design and Development with a minor in Business. Garrett’s design and construction focus stretches back to high school when he helped his family build two custom homes here in Central Texas. Since graduating from college, Garrett has experience as a general contractor with over ten years in sales, customer care and management. He enjoys the family-like attitude K&J’s workforce encourages. When he is not at work, Garrett enjoys his family, his church family & the great outdoors.

Joshua Dean

Senior Estimator

Josh is originally from East Texas, but has been in Austin since 2003. He started with K&J in August 2014 and brings with him many years of experience in the millwork industry. He has held several different roles through the years from installer to project management and is AutoCAD certified. Josh’s background has been invaluable in his role of Senior Estimator at K&J. In his free time, Josh enjoys spending quality time with his family, watching Longhorn football, hunting and building furniture.
